ive been shouting that "centralized dns, government controlled domains, and location based ip address assignment was a mistake" for YEARS now, and everyone is just NOW realizing it is a problem?

"going back to using only ip addresses and host files instead of dns and domains" is not the fix you think it is. you cant control or account for the ISP coming down on you at behest of government bodies either.

everything between you and what you are trying to connect to is owned by governments or corporations operating under the authority of those governments. the infrastructure itself cannot be trusted, and never should have been in the first place.

@Jenetrix Isn't that a view from a place where usual residential ISPs offer static public IP addresses? I wouldn't ever expect theses to work when every affordable ISP is dynamic and CGNAT is getting common here.

It would've believably worked for prestigious universities in the 1980s.
