Don't you just love the sheer amount of sunk cost fallacy that is bolting endless numbers of security patches and mitigations onto computer platforms and communication systems that were not designed for things; and people insisting on continuing to use them anyway?

Just one more patch bro. We'll make it secure this time we promise. You don't need to switch off of our product. Just one more patch bro. We don't need to make a new protocol; We can secure this one for sure. Just one more patch bro. Our existing software is fine; We don't need to rewrite it. Just one more patch bro. Gutting the entire TCP/IP stack is too much effort, we already have so much existing infra; We don't need to spend any more money. Just one more patch bro.
