everything between you and what you are trying to connect to is owned by governments or corporations operating under the authority of those governments. the infrastructure itself cannot be trusted, and never should have been in the first place.
"going back to using only ip addresses and host files instead of dns and domains" is not the fix you think it is. you cant control or account for the ISP coming down on you at behest of government bodies either.
ive been shouting that "centralized dns, government controlled domains, and location based ip address assignment was a mistake" for YEARS now, and everyone is just NOW realizing it is a problem?

if humans didn't have such a superiority complex about it, our society and cultures weren't such profound dicks about it, and we are more attuned with nature and wildlife then people wouldn't feel it necessary to do that to animals who's only crime was trusting humans. how dare we punish them for existing and living in the same space as us.
"but its not good/safe for the animals to be near humans... " oh fuck right the hell off, we coexisted with animals for tens of thousands of years and it wasn't nearly as much of a problem for most of human history, this is a relatively recent mindset and im tired of people pretending that its ok.
